Sport
We encourage a competitive spirit but with a strong emphasis on fair play and team work.
Throughout the year, all pupils – whatever their strengths – will represent Beeston in a team sport. Some of our children represent county and region, and many compete for their senior schools, sometimes nationally. Our aim, however, is for every child to leave Beeston with a sense of enjoyment and confidence in games-playing and the benefit of physical activity for life.
The children benefit from excellent sporting facilities, enjoying a full-size astroturf pitch, a 20 metre outdoor heated swimming pool with access to an indoor pool in the winter months, a sports hall (with cricket nets) and a shooting range. We have 4 rugby pitches, 3 netball courts, 4 badminton courts, 7 tennis courts, and an athletics field. In the summer there are four well kept cricket squares and grass nets for the daily sessions which dominate the term. We host inter-school football events throughout the year. Cross-country takes place weekly all year round, taking advantage of our unique location. As well as fantastic facilities, pupils also have the opportunity to go on a number of sports tours’ in a variety of sports. The most exciting being the Barcelona Hockey Tour that takes place every two years.
Games and PE are taught by qualified staff, who each have extensive experience playing sport to the highest levels.
We can also arrange specialist one-to-one coaching for individual children in cricket, tennis, hockey, rugby, golf and swimming.
