Our school motto is ‘Floreat Fiducia’ – Let confidence flourish!
Under the willow

Floreat Fiducia

Our motto isn’t limited to encouraging a child’s outgoing personality, it is also a statement of intent regarding their confidence to approach all aspects of academia.

The curriculum at Beeston is designed to enable every child to reach his or her potential and prepare them for life after Beeston.

Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences drives our curriculum planning and values: the personal and social, the creative and physical, the moral and spiritual, and the logical and linguistic.

The traditional academic disciplines, such as Latin, are complemented by Music and Drama, Art, Computing, Design Technology, and our Forest School. Together with a famously full games and activities programme, our broad curriculum supports our holistic approach to education. It is something of which we are very proud.

First class teaching from dedicated, motivated, and qualified staff – combined with small class sizes – enable us to aim high for each child, whilst allowing them to develop at the correct pace for them. Each department is run by a subject-specialist head. We have a purpose-built Design Technology and Art centre and are well-equipped for the ever-evolving world of computing. Our classes are small, set where appropriate, reflecting the requirements of the scholarship and /or entrance exams at 13, with children aided where necessary by our remarkable Learning Support department.

‘The plentiful open spaces in the school grounds, and the nearby coastline, offers pupils a chance to be spiritually reflective and find quiet peacefulness in their busy, everyday educational experiences.’

‘Pupils are happy and feel safe at school. They build self-confidence in an atmosphere of mutual support and collaboration.’

‘High quality teaching across the curriculum.’

What makes our curriculum different is the diversity of delivery. Lessons take place from the science lab to the seashore.

There is flexibility to allow for each educator’s personality, with the school conscious of the many different ways children learn within a structured background. The outcomes speak for themselves: our pupils routinely have a 100% success rate to first-choice Senior Schools (an average of 65% of whom win scholarships or awards).

Beach learning

The range of teaching and learning strategies we use, both indoors and out, mean pupils learn to think for themselves, to solve problems, to see that failure and getting it wrong are vital steps on the journey towards getting it right.
